Testimonials Dear Kathy and Pet Rescue Volunteers, We recently adopted Sabrina, a 6 month old Shepard. I would like to convey our thanks and express our gratitude for the work you all do to promote animal kindness. Our experience with Pet Rescue could not have been better. The care given to Sabrina prior to her adoption was exceptional, and we received her in good health and well groomed also. The detailed history sent along with her provided our Vet with a good case history on which he could perform a thorough basic exam. Thus far, Sabrina has been a joy to our family. A bit shy and reticent at first, she has now spread her puppy wings and has become more animated and outgoing. She is enjoying the backyard, the car rides, and all the attention she is receiving from visiting friends. Amazingly, Sabrina was almost housebroken from the time we took her home, and also responded well to basic commands. She is indeed a special dog, and I am sure that many of your dogs would be deserving of similar praise. Please feel free to have any perspective applicant/owner contact us for a reference. Sincerely, Lesli Angel, Marc Epstein and Ari Epstein ****************** December 2001 To All At Pet Rescue, As a frequent volunteer at Pet Rescue, "Rocky" and I met in March 2000. It was a sad day when Pet Rescue "rescued" him, as his case of mange was almost hopeless. Pet Rescue became challenged as they set forth to try and make him well. After several months at the vet, Rocky began to respond. On November 5, 2000, Rocky and I really got to know one another. It was on that day that I took him home to foster him. At this point, Rocky still needed weekly Mitaban dips and although that was a big discomfort for him, he never once flinched. I have had Rocky for over a year now. The "fostering" turned into an "adoption". Within three months time, he won our hearts and has since been a most grateful animal. His coat is now like silk and he loves his weekly bath and conditioning. Recently, my husband suffered a stroke. Rocky has become his constant companion and rarely leaves his side. Rocky has won our hearts just as we have won his. Rocky is one of many wonderful dogs at Pet Rescue, who are just waiting for the right person to love. Visit Pet Rescue if you can - you may well find the right pet (dog or cat) to love. Sincerely, Jean Nee ********************* Dear Kathy and Volunteers at Pet Rescue, In October of 1998, I adopted a wonderful 20 lb. puppy named Daphne. Although I did not know it at the time, that was the best thing that could have happened to me! Now she is a 40 lb. happy, healthy dog and the light of my life. She even has a sister, Squeaker, a kitten that literally found Daphne and me one day. When I first got Daphne, she was nervous when I left her alone during the day, so I got a crate for her to stay in during the day, and that became her safe place. However, fairly quickly, she began to realize that when I left, I would always come back. She came to trust that I would take care of her, and no longer needs the crate. Now she's showing Squeaker the ropes! Daphne is incredibly sweet and always happy. She is the light of my life. I can't thank you enough for providing the service you do, because without you, I wouldn't have Daphne! I hope everyone has the opportunity to have such a fabulous experience with animals like I have. Thanks again. Melissa Gagnon *************
*********************** Remember me, Lila? I lived at Pet Rescue before I found my "forever home." I wanted to write and give you an update on how things are going at my new home. Well, in a word, AWESOME!!! I have a new mom and dad, Karen and Ron. And also a brother, Andy (a 70 lb. standard poodle). At first, Andy wasn't too excited about having me move in. It seems he was jealous, and didn't want to share my mom with me (I know this because I heard my mom and dad talking). Mom and dad were a bit concerned at first, because Andy just wasn't very nice to me at all, and they didn't have experience dealing with this type of thing. I was a bit worried at first too. But, I was determined to make it work. So, I decided that if he wanted to be "top dog" it was OK by me. Well, it seems that worked. Because now, even though at times he still gets a bit assertive, most of the time, he acts OK. And you know, I think he's even starting to like me (I must have won him over with my charm). He shares his toys and doesn't even mind if I eat from his food dish. Now, that's pretty good progress I think. Another thing I had to learn was the "potty training" thing (that's what mom calls it). I had a few accidents at first, but mom wasn't mad and said that it was to be expected considering I had just moved in. She, and Andy, only had to show me a couple of times, and once I got the hang of it, I had no more accidents. As a matter of fact, now I go to the door when I have to "potty." And that really pleases mom and dad. They tell me how proud they are of me for learning so quickly. As a matter of fact, they're always telling me how wonderful, sweet and smart I am. I overheard them say that the people at Pet Rescue must have taken very good care of me because I have such a wonderful and loving "disposition." You know, even though I think I'm the lucky one, they're always saying that they're the lucky ones to have found me. Well, I hear my dad asking if anyone wants a "treat" (that's something we get a lot of around here), so I gotta go. Please tell all prospective adopters about my wonderful success story, so my pals at Pet Rescue can find a wonderful home too. Karen Greisman, Legal Club of America, 1601 N. Harrison Parkway, Bldg. BULLETIN The hurricane season is upon us again in South Florida. The season officially lasts from June 1st through November 30th. This bulletin alert is to ask for assistance in preparing our animal shelter for what Mother Nature may have in store for us in the next 6 months. You may remember seeing our shelter featured in the news back in 1998, after being severely damaged by a storm. Pet Rescue houses many rescued cats and dogs at our animal shelter. Our main concern is for their safety. In order to help our four legged friends, we need assistance with the following: VOLUNTEERS THAT CAN ASSIST WITH SECURING OUR BUILDINGS AGAINST THE STORM. VOLUNTEERS THAT ARE WILLING TO TRANSPORT ANIMALS (IF NECESSARY) TO A SECURE LOCATION THAT IS NOT IN THE PATH OF THE STORM. VOLUNTEERS WILLING TO FOSTER ANIMALS DURING A CRISIS SITUATION. DONATIONS TO BUY MATERIALS TO SECURE OUR SHELTER. DONATIONS TO BUY A RESERVE STOCK OF FOOD/MEDICINE FOR THE ANIMALS. VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST WITH THE CLEAN UP AFTER THE STORM. If you need additional information or would like to offer your help, please call (305) 621-8354. If you would like to send a tax-deductible donation, please mail it to:
